Infant and Toddler Center

Infant/ Toddler Center

Our Infant/ Toddler Center works with a child’s parent(s) or guardian to help the child develop self-help, communication and relationship skills. The care in this Center is billed by the hour, partial day or full day so families are not paying for care they don’t need. We encourage the children to be at the Center for at least two days a week for their integration into their classroom. This however, is not a requirement. We offer part time, flexible care in order to meet the unique needs of individuals and their families.

Infant Room

The Infant Room serves children from six weeks of age through approximately eighteen months. Children move to the Toddler Room according to their own growth and needs. For the month before they move the children begin to “visit” their new room. Little by little they spend more time there until they know their new caregivers and are comfortable with the routine of the room.

In the infant room parents or guardians are asked to supply a schedule for their child. This is done daily so we know when they were last fed or changed. The family also supplies diapers, extra clothes, special blanks, wipes, pacifiers and all formula and food.

The staff of the Infant Room spends a great deal of time on the floor – playing, moving around, and generally interacting with the babies.

Toddler Room

The Toddler Room serves children from about eighteen months through 36 months. Children move to the Preschool Room once they are one month past their third birthday and are using the potty regularly. For the month before they move the children begin to “visit” their new room. Little by little they spend more time there until they know their new caregivers and are comfortable with the routine of the room.

In the Toddler Room the children begin to eat our Center Snacks which are served at about 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Here at Kings School Kids we are working at becoming more and more health conscious with our snacks. We provide crackers, fruit and an occasional cookie along with cold water. On special occasions we will have juice but the empty calories are something we are trying to avoid. Parents must supply diapers, wipes, extra clothes and socks, a pacifier if needed and a crib sheet to fit our mats. Parents supply food for the meals the children eat at the center.

We serve breakfast at 8:00 and lunch at 11:30 a.m. These meals are eaten “family style.” We sit down together and work on manners, conversation and good eating habits while we dine. The children nap between Noon and 2:00 or so. Busy mornings lead to the need for rest.

As a rule, children will have an opportunity to play outdoors every day. However, then the temperature is below 15°, the weather is very wet or the wind chill is below zero the children will not go outdoors. We use the Founders’ Hall in the church basement as a place to run, play and ride our tricycles when the weather outside is inclement.

There is a monthly calendar and the children and staff of the Toddler Room have themes for each week. They have table time, as well as a lot of floor time, as they learn colors, shapes, how to get along and the art of conversation.
