Schoolage Center

Schoolage Center

Our Schoolage Center is a safe, fun place for children to be when public and private schools are not in session. During the school year we have two sessions. One session opens at 6:30 a.m. and runs until the children get on the bus to go to their schools. The other session begins at the end of the school day and runs until 6:00 p.m. On days when there is no school we provide care from 6:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. This Center is open to children in first grade through fifteen years of age.

Besides offering time for homework, an afternoon snack and social time with peers, we have a curriculum that provides enrichment and entertainment for our schoolagers.

During the school year, as well as during the summer, we offer various opportunities to take part in out reach programs. This age group also takes weekly field trips during the summer. Bus transportation is available to and from the Center and the public and private schools in Bethel Park. This can be arranged through the Bethel Park School District. Schoolagers will be served breakfast before getting on the bus if their parents provide the food. On non-school days we will serve them lunch (also provided by parents) at about Noon. We do ask that, especially in the summer when we are doing lots of messy activities, parents have some extra clothes available in case of accidents.

On Snow Days, when the schools are closed because of inclement weather (cold or snow with improving conditions) and the staff can safely reach the Center, the Center will be open. Announcements regarding First Bethel United Methodist Church’s King School Kids Program closings are made on KDKA–1020 AM on the radio. If the Bethel Park Schools have a snow delay we will provide care (with a small additional cost) until the children are picked up by their buses.
